Established in 1940 as a part of the Nazi Endlosung( the Final
Solution) in the outskirts of the city Oświęcim (Auschwitz in German)
due to its location in the center of Nazi occupied Europe and a very
good railway connection to other Nazi camps.

Auschwitz quickly grew to become the largest concentration camp and eventually it was chosen as the location of the Final Solution. It became an almost inescapable working camp, where the prisoners lived in appalling, in-human conditions, often beaten, always starving.

Countless people suffered
there, millions died. Since 1942 it became a site of executing people of
Jewish orgin from all over Europe. After its liberation by the Soviet
army, the Polish government decided to partially rebuild the camp and
create a museum there to commemorate the dead. You can buy travel to Auschwitz if you want to see it on your owns. Now it’s recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
